On June 19th, a warm, sunny Wednesday evening, club members took part in another event for them to score those all important Club Championship points – Chippenham Longest Day 10k. The race, organised by DB Max, is never one to disappoint with over 600+ people entered the crowd of runners is neatly organised at the start according to estimated finish time, pacers are included at various intervals from 35 minutes+, there is live music before and after the race, plenty of food to re-fuel after the finish and not to mention the fantastic Jamma de Samba band playing us out and in of the Chippenham town centre.
There were great times achieved all round and PBs tumbled, our very own Philip Daniels and Matthew Waite finishing in 8th and 9th place respectively, each putting in an average race pace of 16.2-16.7km/h….crazy stuff!

After the race there was plenty of opportunity to kick back and rehydrate.
The course is varied, mostly flat with maximum elevation gain of 59 metres, some off road taking part on the cycle path running adjacent to the town, a full map is shown below:

Full results from the race can be found here, if you’re interested in finding out more about the race why not take a look at their website here
