80s Thursday Training Night

To celebrate the 60th birthday of club member Jeremy Friend we held a special 80s themed Thursday training session! Club members raided their wardrobes and attics to dig out their sweatbands and leg warmers for a blast from the past session. We took part in a pacing exercise with 80 seconds of running around the track, followed by a 60 second rest in-between, then 80 seconds the opposite direction to see if we could all start and end in the same place, repeat until 30 minutes. There were a couple of sneaky 19 second rests thrown in randomly to replace the 60 seconds before another 80 second run (get the 19-80 ;))…all accompanied by music from the era.

Best dressed award went to Charlie Oram, whilst best performance was awarded to Liz Bates for her fantastic pacing, and Colin Woodward picked up the award for worst performance after losing some of his costume during the run

There was plenty of birthday cake or sweets to go around after the session thanks to Pam Friend

Happy Birthday Jeremy from everyone at the club! A great session with unforgettable moments and another fantastic reason to be a part of our friendly and welcoming club!
