February 2026 Newsletter

Happy Spring to all our fellow runners!  Here’s to the light nights and running in shorts and T-shirts!  Not dressed like Eskimos!

A warm welcome to our new member this month, Gary Wootton.  It is great having you out on our social runs with us.

WORRL

February saw the end of the Wiltshire Off Road League (WORRL).  At the time of writing this, the full set of results were not yet published.  I will give the full update next month.

However, I can tell you that we had a fantastic turnout for the Smartt Smasher.  We had the 1st male finisher (Simon) and thanks to Simon, Phil and Prob, we won the men’s team title.  Congratulations all!  As a club we scored massively in both the A and B groups, which is brilliant!

We now have a break until the Wiltshire Road Running League (WRRL) begins.  It starts with the Corsham 10k in April.  We have 10 runners booked in and sadly places are now sold out and they are running a waiting list!

SOCIAL EVENTS

On 20 February we had our first social event, Tenpin bowling.  21 of us played and we had 1 hanger-on watching!! Lol.  The winning team was team 3, consisting of Sharon, Colin, Jess, Elaine and Kevin with a grand score of 1015!  Well done all!  A big thank you to those who came along.  Nice to see people in everyday clothes and not running gear!

Our next social event is an evening at Sam’s Bar, Blacklands Campsite around the end of April.  We will be putting a poll together with a couple of dates for people to choose and we will go for the most popular one.  We hope you can join us!

Also, keep an eye out for a big announcement coming soon, so check your emails and Facebook page!!

Other business

Colin Morris has entered a team into the Cotswold Way Relays for this year.  We had a team 2 years ago and it was a great event.  Please follow the link www.cotswoldwayrelay.co.uk  to see the event and if you are interested, please email Colin (colinrmorris@icloud.com) direct.  It’s a great run and we had a great evening in Bath afterwards to celebrate.  Definitely one to do!!

Don’t forget to let us know about any milestones, achievements or unusual races so we can include them in future newsletters!

Happy running everyone!

Tim
